Land Speeder Storm comes with Marine Scouts

So I just opened my newly arrived White Dwarf and and the picture above caught my eye. I am pretty sure everyone reading knows I am not a Space Marine player, but I have followed a fair amount of conversation regarding the Land Speeder Storm. Most of what I have heard says it was not going to come with marines (which even I thought sucked).

Well, this picture shows the marine pieces that are on the sprues. Looks like 6 marine crew will be coming, along with all the bits to make them hang on the side!

6-28-2009 - An update..... Here is a close-up of the scouts themselves.

  1. But these Scouts can't be used on the table separately, can they? They seem like they'll just be stuck on the vehicle and become decoration.

  2. My thought would be to magnetize the scouts, and then keep a scout squad on normal bases aside. I think the legs will make them look odd on their own bases.

  3. Oooh, thank you for posting that! I've been looking around for more details on the Storm for a while. While it "comes with Scouts", they were probably intended as permanent crew, as opposed to the squad that you'd stick in it. Still, some conversion work could fix that problem. I was hoping for sprue pictures - some of the scout parts look like they'd come from the normal scout sprues, whereas a few look special - I wonder what sprues it comes with ...

  4. I think GW has made these in a similar fashion as the Black reach marines, only sculpted for decoration, but who knows, Ill wait tell I have the actual kit the pass judgment.

  5. I wager that with a little bit of work, you could probably make those scouts passable as figures. Still, there are six and I think the best you might get is four, since the pilot and gunner are kind of fixed.

I'm a little surprised it doesn't come with weapon options; the thing's got BS3 so I'd figure on a heavy flamer being popular for coming up and roasting someone with the scouts as a cleanup unit.

  6. The Land Speeder Storm is a vehicle with a transport capacity of 5. Those scouts can definitely be used on the table, and Nix603 has the perfect idea. However, being that the unit itself is a transport, perhaps the models are designed to clip on/off already.

  7. Can you please get a close up of the scouts? They arre a little bit hard to see.

  10. I have to admit, it is a nice looking speeder. I am not a Marine player, but I have seen some excellent painting of this model!

As for the Blood Angels jump-packs, I think we will start to see a whole lot of winged assault marines coming up. I get the feeling that lots of people will start using the Sanguinary guard packs along with the single engine jump-packs for a variety of chapters.
